Why commercial cleaning should be considered past the pandemic!

Businesses around the world have been hit hard by COVID-19, many having to shut their doors, some even permanently. We now ALL know the importance of a clean working environment and how it can benefit our employees,  our clients and for some our lively-hoods. However, looking back at history, we are doomed to repeat what we did before.

Before the pandemic, many businesses lacked any kind of cleaning regime and was done sporadically by employees. The risks of catching a cold or an illness at work were high because the workplace was just not clean. And even though, in the not too distant future, the Coronavirus may disappear, we must remember that colds and flu are still very present.

The Hard Facts!

It may not seem like it, but regular contract cleaning does in fact add value to your company. A staggering 80% of common illnesses, such as infections and cold,  are passed on by touch alone*. And believe it or not 33% of people do not use soap to wash their hands with bacterias from hands being preserved for hours, even months on surfaces, which causes the spread of infections between individuals.

From 2019 to 2020, in Great Britain there were a whopping 1.6 million who suffered from illness which was work related – a significant 5.3% of the 33 million working population! That combination of work-related illness and injury led to 38.8 million lost days of work. Of course, all of that came at a cost, but just how much will likely surprise you; from 2018 to 2019, it is estimated that illness and injury from the workplace cost around £16.2 billion!

The Goal of Commercial Contract Cleaning

Regular cleaning within your workplace will ensure your employees spend less time away from the office and will increase happinesses because they are healthier. Happy employees = increased productivity. So it seems strange why pre-pandemic, any employer would choose not to have a cleaning regime in place?

The goal of frequent commercial cleaning contracts is to minimise risk in any workplace or customer facility, that is humanly possible. We know how important it is to ensure customers feel safe and enjoy their visit when they attend a restaurant, a golf course or even a cinema, and that employees are healthy and happy at work. By introducing regular cleans and signs to show that the establishment is a clean and healthy environment, customers and employees can feel better knowing the establishment is taking preventative measures for their well-being.
